It’s A Sign You Should Read This!

Elephant & Piggie introduces kids to another fun book

Mo Willems’ “Elephant & Piggie Like Reading” series continues to put out fun stories for kids through Hyperion Books for Children, a division of Disney Publishing. This time around, Elephant & Piggie introduce us to One, Two, Kat, and Four – four friends with different talents who use their skills to form a club together. The book, It’s A Sign is written and illustrated by Jarrett and Jerome Pumphrey, brothers who are award winners in their own right.

If you don’t know already, Mo Willems is a renowned author and illustrator of children’s books. He is probably best well known for his Pigeon series and Elephant & Piggie series although he’s branched out with the hilarious and informative Unlimited Squirrels. You might also know him for his popular books like Nanette’s Baguettes, Opposites Abstract, and my favorite The Story of Diva and Flea. For this series Mo promotes OTHER writers and artists who do great work for kids by writing an intro and outro using his own famous characters (imagine that…he helps to promote OTHER people’s works!).

In It’s A Sign, the Pumphrey brothers help kids to understand that everyone can contribute no matter their depth of skill or talent. We all have gifts that can help. Some people know more things. Some people know different things. But everyone can contribute. The Pumphrey’s share this message in a fun, cute story of these four animal friends that will be easily understandable and accessible to children. It’s definitely worthwhile for that young child in your life (or the one dwelling in your heart).
