It’s no secret that I love LEGO. I’ve said often enough that if the Disney company could just acquire the LEGO Group, my dreams would all be housed under one roof – Disney, Star Wars, Marvel, and LEGO. So, of course, I’m a huge fan of Marvel LEGOs (not to mention Disney LEGOs and Star Wars LEGOs). When Captain America: Civil War was released in theaters, it wasn’t long before LEGO added to their Marvel collection with sets specifically fashioned after the film.

They have released three specifically Civil War sets: Crossbones Hazard Heist (set #76050 – retail price $19.99), Black Panther Pursuit (76047 – $29.99) and Super Hero Airport Battle (76051 – $79.99). Crossbones Hazard Heist features characters from the opening sequence of the movie – Crossbones himself, Black Widow, and Falcon. Crossbones’ truck looks cool and features shooting missiles but Black Widow’s motorcycle is even cooler complete with Avengers logo on the side. Black Panther Pursuit is the first set to feature a Black Panther minifigure making it a collectible right away. It also features Captain America without his helmet or mask and Winter Soldier. The vehicles are pretty standard but the minifigures make the set.

The best of the three however is the Super Hero Airport Set. The airport tower itself has some nice details like a three-story layout including “exploding” walls on the second floor and “exploding” boxes on the first floor. I love the sign on the door of the tower which says “Authorized Minifigures Only.” The set also comes with a quinjet, some great minifigures, and even a microfigure of Ant Man. But the best feature of the set is the transformed Giant Man figure! About 5 times the height of a standard minifigure, this buildable hero has the features, looks, and style of a huge minifigure. I believe this is the largest “minifigure” in the LEGO lineup! Even way bigger than Hulk and Thanos.

Speaking of Thanos, two other Marvel sets were released featuring the Avengers including one with the purple villain. Iron Skull Sub Attack (76048 – $29.99) features Scuba Captain America and Scuba Iron Man which is just cool by itself, but also Red Skull and a pretty neat Red Skull submarine (and henchman). But the Thanos set is Avenjet Space Mission (76049 – $59.99) and features not only the first appearance of Thanos, but also the first appearance of Captain Marvel and Hyperion. Captain Marvel is cool because she has two heads – one with mask and one without. If that wasn’t enough, it has a cool space jet variation of the Avengers standard quinjet and comes with Space Iron Man and Space Captain America with star-spangled astronaut gear.
If you’re big into LEGO and big into Marvel, these new sets are right up your alley!
