Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD Returning for Season 6…AND 7!

Coulson is dead…Coulson is back?

For those of you who are fans of Marvel’s premiere (and now only) live action television presence, it’s heartening news to find out that our favorite show is BACK!  Albeit a very long wait.  The Season 5 finale ended in May of 2018 and we will have to wait until summer of 2019 to see it return.  But in what has been unprecedented for this show in the past, ABC has already commissioned a season 7!  Meaning fans don’t have to wonder and worry if this is the last we will see of intrepid agents.  The question remains though, what will that future look like?

If you’ve seen the teaser trailer for Season 6, you know that Coulson is dead.  He died spending time with Agent May in Tahiti, leaving Daisy in charge.  One of Daisy’s first decisions is to tap Mack to lead S.H.I.E.L.D.  Mack has proven time and again he has the heart for the job and in the teaser for Season 6, it looks like he is still looking to Coulson at least for inspiration now that his boss is gone.  Or is he?  The trailer also teases that Coulson may not be quite so dead.  But this new Coulson has no recollection of S.H.I.E.L.D. so is it a clone?  A doppleganger?  Or something even more weird?  Guess we’ll have to wait until Season 6 to find out.  But a small clue might have been dropped in the press release photos which just came out heralding the season premiere.  On the picture of Coulson it doesn’t say “Clark Gregg as Coulson” as it has every other season.  It says “Clark Gregg as Sarge?”

The search for Fitz is also on.  Part of the gang is going after “Frozen Fitz” who is technically floating out in space, waiting to arrive to help his friends in the future.  Surely it won’t be as easy as finding his ship and coming home.  Maybe we’ll meet the Skrulls again since they’ve been introduced in Captain Marvel?  Since Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been signed on through season 7, perhaps they will once again use the show to tie into MCU current events.  Will Season 6 take place after Endgame?  Assuming it will, will we find out who was snapped out of existence or will they give it minor attention before moving on? If not…how will this season fit in?  No matter what happens it will be exciting to watch so be sure to tune in on May 10th when the new season premiers.
