If you are a Star Wars fan, then you know that May 4 is basically a national holiday. It’s roots lie in Great Britain when Margaret Thatcher became Prime MInister in 1979.  Her political party put an advertisement in the paper saying “May the Fourth Be With You, Maggie. Congratulations,” a play on the famous Star Wars line, “May the Force be with you.”  Since then, the day has become celebrated in different ways nationwide.  Stores offer special sales on Star Wars merchandise, the Disney Parks have issued unique Star Wars pins and shirts, and you can usually find Star Wars programming on television.  This year is no different.

LEGO offered VIP customers exclusive early access to the new LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series TIE Fighter. On top of that, any Star Wars purchase made by May 4 enters all VIP members into a drawing to win one of ten new TIE Fighters, SIGNED by LEGO Group owner Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen. By the way, this is the only way to get this set currently as it is already out of stock on the website (although you may be able to purchase one in your local LEGO store). You CAN order it now and it will ship to you once it becomes available.  With any $75 purchase, you can receive an exclusive Admiral Yularen minifigure and ANY Star Wars purchase lets you get a Star Wars LEGO poster of Episode IV (these posters were highly sought after at Star Wars Celebration 2015).  In addition to all this Star Wars goodness, there is a massive sale on Star Wars themed LEGO sets on the LEGO site.  Be warned, many of them are already sold out.

Not to be left out, the Disney Stores nationwide are offering 30% off their Star Wars collection.  You can even shop via Twitter (@DisneyStore) for your favorite items.  The sale continues through May 10th.  In addition to that, the first 100 people who purchase something in-store on May 4th will receive a Star Wars pin (limit one per person). And a special Stormtrooper watch will be available for only $8 with any purchase while supplies last.  Throughout the day there will also be Star Wars crafts, storytime, and other fun events.

If that wasn’t enough Disney XD is running a Star Wars Rebels marathon culminating in the exciting season finale, a must see before the June 20th premiere of Season 2! They will also be showing episodes of The New Yoda Chronicles which are hilarious and fun for the whole family, as well as Star Wars themed episodes of Phineas and Ferb, Kickin’ It, and Lab Rats. Look for these shows all day on May 4th.

That’s only the tip of the Star Wars Day iceberg as many more opportunities abound.  Build-A-Bear workshop is offering a one-day pre-order of their new Chewbacca plush complete with bowcaster and sounds, five select Petco loccations will be hosting Star Wars pet costume contests, ThinkGeek is offering 20% off all Star Wars products and free pin with $20 purchase, the Disney theme parks are releasing two Star Wars Day pins to celebrate the occasion, and there are lots of other deals.  Check out StarWars.com for a list of even more stuff!
