Hong Kong Disneyland (HKDL) is quite simply a pin collector’s paradise! Where else could you imagine finding limited edition pins that are both beautiful and readily accessible as well as unique without having to sleep overnight or wake up at 2am to wait in line? To celebrate its 10th anniversary, HKDL released a series of Mickey sliding/easel pins that showcase the images of Mickey used in the park over the past 10 years. Each pin is incredibly beautiful and is also limited to only 600 pieces. What’s more, they weren’t sold out! I didn’t have to battle a mob to get them or go through a wristband selection process. I just asked to get one. They had other equally beautiful LE 500 pins just sitting on the pin spinner in the shop. And they had other pins from previous promotions still available. On top of that, HKDL has unique open edition pins that are worthy of collecting.

But HKDL is not a one-trick souvenir pony. They have many different items that are both collectible and simply make for great souvenirs. On the higher end of the scale, Midtown Jewelry on Main Street had this amazing gold replica of the castle with a gold Mickey and Minnie in front of it. They had other truly spectacularly crafted character items in gold and silver as well. The Crystal Arts shop, also on Main Street, had in addition to the regular glass figurines of Disney characters these beautiful glass sculptures of dragons. There were many other unique HKDL collectibles to be found in shops all over the park.

And if you’re looking for character items, you’ll find no shortage of those in the park either. My favorite is the collection of bears from the Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars found right outside the attraction in an outdoor stand. They are so adorable and again unique to HKDL. But you can easily find shirts, hats, candy, keychains, pens, pencils, and the usual assortment of other character souvenirs available as well. In every category, you’ll find items that are unique to HKDL so there’s plenty to be brought home for you and your family and friends. Also, Hong Kong Disneyland is home to ShellieMay, Duffy’s female friend which can only be found so far at the Asian Disney theme parks, and while Tokyo Disneyland has a much bigger selection of Duffy products, you’ll be very happy if you are a fan of Mickey’s teddy bear. If you get the chance to go to HKDL, you’ll probably need an extra bag to bring home everything!

Is there pintrading in Hong Kong Disneyland too with the cast members?
Yes, they do. I thought it was funny that they have their own pins for collecting, but the pins they have for trade are the ones you can get at any American Disney park. It would be so cool if each park had their own unique trading pins, too.
