Bengal Barbecue – Adventureland

Tasty and full of flavor, these skewers are the perfect snack!

The Bengal Barbecue offers up some of the yummiest tastes in the theme park. Hidden away behind River Belle Terrace and next to Safari Outpost, this hidden gem specializes in skewered meats and veggies often marinated in some of the best tasting sauces you can find. Each flavor combination is paired precisely with their protein to create great flavors. And all of it for a truly reasonable price. Now you can even do mobile ordering here to make it even easier to get your meaty treats.

Clockwise: Jungle Julep (non-alcoholic), Banyan Beef Skewers, Pork Belly Skewers, and Chieftain Chicken Skewers

FOOD: Pretty much you are here for the skewers. While there are some other options, there aren’t many. But then isn’t it best when you know they concentrate on doing on thing well? And The Bengal Barbecue does skewers well! When it opened back in 1990 (I was there!) they were an instant hit and today they still are, but unlike other food places, this one never seems to have that bad of a wait and you don’t need a reservation. Today they feature six different skewers – the Chieftain Chicken Skewer in a tangy but sweet Polynesian sauce; the Bengal Beef Skewer which they say is marinated in a Zulu sauce but it’s very much akin to a tangy and sweet barbecue sauce; the Banyan Beef Skewer, a pretty spicy option but full of power and flavor; Outback Vegetable Skewer; and the Safari Skewer which is bacon-wrapped asparagus. Recently, they’ve added a bonus skewer – the BBQ Pork Belly Skewer! They’ve described it as “grilled pork belly served on a ‘boat’ of iceberg lettuce, topped with Hoisin sauce, pickled carrots, daikon, and cilantro.” All I can tell you is that it is darn good! My favorite of them all. They do have specialty drinks from time-to-time. My favorite is the Jungle Julep – a mix of pineapple, orange, lemon, and grape all in one. YUM! If they have it be sure to order it! Kind of like an Icee / slushee.

SERVICE: They are very quick here so turnaround time is pretty fast. And they are always cooking everything fresh so no worries there. Plus, of course, you can expect the same great Disney cast member service as always. This place has their system down pat.

COST: Best thing is all of this is relatively inexpensive! Even for a theme park! The skewers are about $6-7 a piece and you can get a two skewer plate with rice and slaw for $17.99. Definitely worth it. A great meal for under $20 at Disneyland? Sign me up!
