Lorcana – Ravensburger New Collectible Card Game Is As Magical As It Sounds

The big hit at D23 Expo will be the most talked about new phenomenon of 2023

It sold out immediately. The next day, it sold out even faster. A little known game at the time turned out to be the big buzz of the entire convention. As word got around about Lorcana, people realized it was the must have item at the expo. Very limited quantities of the preview pack were sold at a price point of $50 each for six cards in a beautiful display. Still, six cards for $50? At the end of the day, that amount seemed like a steal.

Lorcana takes the elements of a traditional trading card game but adds what every Disney fan wants – Disney characters! “The breadth and scope of Disney characters represented in this game will be unprecedented, and it will contain more original Disney artwork than any other single product ever created,” said John Balen, Vice President of Product Design at Disney.

Ravensburger is in it for the long haul. Both they and Disney are dedicated to making this a well-supported and successful game that is both easy enough for new players to learn and complex enough for die-hard gamers to enjoy. With Ravensburger’s track record for quality games, it looks to be promising. “Disney Lorcana is the result of the powerful alchemy of Disney magic, Ravensburger game excellence, and several years of dedicated work and investment,” said Filip Francke, Ravensburger North America CEO and Global Head of Games. “This potent combination has poised Disney Lorcana to be a game-changer in the billion-dollar-plus trading card game market.”

Unfortunately, Disney fans will have to wait a year to see the game come to fruition. It is set to be released in Fall 2023. But from what we’ve seen so far, it will be worth the wait!
